Buffalo in the News: Wings and Winners

Buffalo in the News: Wings and Winners
Buffalo appears in this issue of Time Out New York as a destination for this summer.  One way tickets are $55 from NYC to Buffalo on Amtrak, $45 by bus, and $69 on Jet Blue.  And once the NYC crowd gets here, everything they can take advantage of is still a bargain by their standards.

The focus in the beginning of the article centered around wings (as did most of the pictures) but then the article broke out into some of our finer venues, such as The Mansion, The Knox and the Burchfield.  (It should also be mentioned that the Burchfield Penny Arts Center got another recent boost in this greenbuildingsNYC article.)

Don't get us started on restaurants or architecture; either of these could be the subject for   loooong articles about where to eat and what to see in the Queen City, but it was especially nice to see the Left Bank and SPoT Coffee mentioned.

Lastly, is it really a 30 minute walk from the Beau Fleuve to the ball park?  What about the subway?  Out-of-towners can't be expected to know everything about Buffalo from one article, so one of their first stops should be to the Buffalo Niagara CVB, where visitors can bring themselves up to speed fast.

It is close to 30min (only 2.2 miles) but even for me that is a little ambitions. Certainly 35 would do it... But considering the audience, NYC residents, it probably is a 30 walk for many. Most people around here don't walk but lumber around often to my annoyance as I miss my connection.

That was a every cool pic of the BP in the story. The emphasis on Buffalo Wings in national stories is getting tiring

Great story. The Wing festival was the first venture we did when we moved here, really enjoyed it!

Glad to see it. In other tourism news: does anyone know why Buffalo is not a destination on the official travel and tourism website of the United States? The site is http://www.discoveramerica.com/ca/places.html, developed with the cooperation of the United States Department of Commerce.

A consumer electronics bulletin, with a million-plus audience, featured the site today.

I sense participation must be paid for. Niagara Falls isn't on it, either, nor any other upstate location besides the Finger Lakes.

Shouldn't the CVB be aggressive about featuring our attractions in as many places as possible?

Can't they get at least a decent pic of the skyline in there? Or something like Elena posted from the Grain Elevators, (love that pic, it shows Buffalo's density nicely from a unique vantage point)!
