The young, spirited members of the B_Team Buffalo found a great way to release their energy into a Buffalo community this past Saturday.
"May is the month of the Great American Clean Up, and as an
organization of energized and dedicated Buffalonians, we couldn't keep our
hands off the opportunity to clean up the streets of a Buffalo neighborhood
that could use our help," said B_Team Buffalo Chairman Joe Malczewski.
"We like to get our hands a little dirty, and did so by helping our
friends in the neighborhood surrounding Schiller Park."
About 25 members of the B_Team spread out around Doat Street,
picking up trash and painting over graffiti.
"Many hands make light work, and in just a few hours we got
a lot done," continued Malczewski. "A project where you can see
results is a great way to start the Spring and Summer."
Some residents of the area stopped to say thank you, making an already sunny day even brighter.
"People stopping to say thank you or asking who we were,
reminded us of why we were there; to help great people," Malczewski added.
"We do it because we want help, but meeting the people of the community
makes it more personal."
Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown spent time with the volunteers to
express his thanks for their efforts.
Malczewski said, "We are grateful for our friends in City Hall who supported our clean up by providing us with supplies. Watson, Bennett, Colligan, Johnson & Schechter, LLP, also graciously provided us with supplies to get the project done safely and successfully," Malczewski said.
"Our partners and volunteers in this project truly epitomize why Buffalo is the City of Good Neighbors," Malczewski said. "The Clean up represents what the B_Team is all about. Teaming up, getting our hands a little dirty and more than anything, keeping Buffalo a wonderful place to live."
