As the Memorial Auditorium morphs into the Memorial Amphitheater on its way to the ground, people have been coming by in droves to visit the site of the new Bass Pro, many with memories of the Aud in its heyday.

We find this photo of man and child - one who may have attended Sabres games back in the day, and one who never did - to be particularly poignant. The Aud saw its last season in 1996, with play moving to the HSBC arena just down the road.
Though fans and non-fans seem to enjoy the demolition in progress and look forward (some quite skeptically) to the opening of the Bass Pro, many a story is relived standing in front of the chain link fence that separates memory from reality.
We couldn't see what was in the man's hands; it could have been a Kleenex, could have been a camera. Maybe sometime in the future, these two will be looking for specialty lures for ice fishing, right there where the ice once was.
I have many memories of the Aud. Sabres, Concerts, circus, etc... .
But, can we knock this thing down already?!?!
