Art Openings Galore on Allen -- Tonight!

Art Openings Galore on Allen -- Tonight!

Allen Street, between Delaware and Franklin, will be poppin' tonight with three art openings at Indigo Art (74 Allen), Buffalo Big Print (78 Allen), and an open house at Studio Hart (65 Allen).

At Studio Hart, the work of Dianne Baker and Georgia Trimper will be on display through Saturday.

Across the street at Buffalo Big Print, the gallery will be showing off a collection of beautiful prints, all of which were taken around the city and surrounding WNY sites.

The
Allen Street arts community urges everyone to stop in any time between 7-9PM

As something to keep in mind for next weekend's art happenings, Nathan W. Naetzker's small works on paper will be debuting at Studio Hart. The opening is from 6-8PM next Friday, April 10th, and will run through May 2nd.

Don Nieman had a very successful opening show at Buffalo Big Print last night.  In fact all of the galleries on Allen were packed so full of people that the tall windows facing the street were completely fogged. There was no shopping or spotting friend... Read More

agreed reader. really though, lastcall, how much is that image going to change throughout the day, other than the shadows? the subway will pass?

been a while since you've been up before the sun? i'm pretty sure it doesn't pop up in the winter until around 8. This time of year, maybe 7:20-7:30.

don't defend it, dude. cool picture. but it's not airbrushed, there's really not any human beings downtown.

What a beautiful shot of downtown Buffalo. Who cares if Main Street is not flourishing with people at the moment the photo was taken? The point is to highlight the beauty of our historic skyline in the very area the is the heart of our city and region. If the photographer wanted a vibrant shot of pedestrian activity, then they would have taken the photo at mid-day.

i think this article is about a very important art opening on Allen st. not about what five of you think about the lead picture. who gives a sh!t what time you get up or how many people are on main st. at sunrise. how about getting off your butt to celebrate a great event, and do something to support downtown. as for me i will be on Allen!!! stick to the subject folks.

Someone needs to let George Romero know that Buffalo would be great to use for his next big zombie movie.

Dagner:

I was up this morning at 4:30am. I'm in the army and probably work well more hours in a day than you. not to mention go to distant lands to protect rights of people i could care less about. I don't live in buffalo. but you're welcome for coming to these websites and supporting your sad city

ps. upon a closer look, i think its a painting. but that may be beside the point

the army should have taught you not to insult where other people live. our "SAD" city helps pay your wages. think of how you just represented the branch your in. who looks sad now? Besides, your disrespectful comment still has nothing to do with the story.

Perhaps some of the "where's my free wine and cheese?" crowd might actually buy something.

As if, I bet nothing was bought, just another night for Buffaloians to "act" in the know and wear cheap black clothing from Kohl's. I went to check it out, bunch of second and third rate[grade] crap. Had a good laugh, then left. [and I did not wear black]

No no no no no no! Stay the f#$k away. There are too many defeatist types in this town as is who get a wierd buzz out of putting down everything Buffalo. I guess putting down the hometown gives you guys a feeling of superiority or somthing. I would suggest looking at an MUP program at a school somewhere else. I dont think we would want someone pi$$ing all over our work. We do a lot of things involving the local community you seem to despise. I dont think UBs MUP progam would interest you.

relax. this is over a picture and the time of the sunrise. i think UB's MUP will suit just fine. how many people do you know get their hometown newspaper mailed to them when they're in afghanistan? or follow the sabres and bills religiously in the wee hours of the afghan night? or wear a bills tshirt on every patrol in a combat zone? or spend their money on the buffalo economy whenever possible, despite living 600 or 7000 miles away? i was doing the same thing everyone in buffalo does, criticize it's downfalls; and then i was simply defending myself after attacks. our work? what's our work? see, after having an outsiders view this is exactly how buffalonians are. they criticize within, and then gather for an attack whenever an apparent "outsider" joins in the attack. for example see the GQ from last month when buffalonians were in an uproar because chicken wings from buffalo weren't written about. how many people writing on here don't even live in buffalo, but live in the suburbs and simply perpetuate the exact things that bring buffalo down.
relax. be glad that a young college grad that left buffalo due to federal service, isn't staying away, but rather returning.

Hey, Louis Tully I think maybe you could benefit from the writings of Ecart Tolle !

Oh dear. Well, not to be intrusively mentioning the actual subject of this post, but I did attend all 3 opening and they were excellent. Very interesting and each very different from the next.

Perhaps a picture of Allen Street would have derailed a lot of this nonsense, but let me assure you, I couldn't care less when any of you get up in the am. That is your business. Good for you, whether you get up at 4 am or 1 pm.

probably right blackrock

sounds like something my dad would say, scary.

interesting opening about black rock to mark goldmans city on the edge. your name just made me think about it.

nonetheless. as much fun as it was to scuffle, i wasn't trying to get in a ray v. domi fight. if you really question my buffalo loyalty i'd be glad to have a discussion. furiousgwedo69@gmail.com
