Dust off your bikes and break out the water bottles because it's almost time for The Ride For Roswell. More than 8,500 people are expected to participate in this annual event this year. The event will start at the University at Buffalo's Baird Point in Amherst on Saturday, June 27th.
Whether you are riding with a group of four or more, or you are an individual rider, everyone is encouraged to register. This year, there will to be a brand new, 3-mile "Family Fun Ride," great for Families with younger riders, tricycles, and trailers. If you are up for the challenge, sign up for the 12-mile Peloton ride, sponsored by Sahlen's.
"The Ride is a great way for businesses, schools, families and community groups to make an impact for cancer research that will save lives," said Mitch Flynn, founder and chair of The Ride. "More than ever, we depend on the support and dedication of riders, volunteers and donors from Western New York and across the country to help Roswell Park in its mission to cure cancer."
Top Fundraisers who raises at least $1,000 by the day of The Ride For Roswell can enjoy benefits as members of the Extra Mile Club. Some of the benefits include preferred parking on the day of The Ride, admission to the Exra Mile Club tent (which offers bike check-ups and adjustments, exclusive food selections, professional massages and more), and access to invitation-only recognition events.
Cannot ride on June 27th? Don't worry, you can still do your part for Roswell Park by being a "virtual rider." Virtual riders are just as important to Roswell Park and will qualify for the same benefits as riders, including a Ride t-shirt, fundraising assistance, admission to the post-Ride picnic and party and opportunity to compete for top fundraising honors and prizes.
See the Ride For Roswell web site for tips, tools, and more information on the event. For a community of participants, go to The Ride For Roswell's new social networking site Ride Connect.

One of the best run fund raising cycling events in WNY and the metric century route takes you through the scenic Alabama Swamps. Ride is also scheduled far enough into the cycling season to allow longer distance riders to get some miles on their legs in preperation for the event. Ride for a great cause and support a wonderful WNY cancer treatment and research institute..
