Shea’s announces 2009-2010 Broadway Season

Shea's Performing Arts Center has been bringing classics and favorites of the theatre for over 20 seasons! There was a full house on Thursday night for the big announcement of the 2009-2010 Broadway season. County Executive Chris Collins spoke of the importance of Shea's to Buffalos culture and how it will play a key role in the revitalization of downtown and Western New York. "Shea's will be part of Buffalo's road to a brighter future and will be the centerpiece of the culture in Buffalo. We want to bring tourists into the area and give them a first-class experience"

Tony Conte, President of Sheas also stressed the importance of the season ticket holder.  It is a fantastic and inexpensive way to be involved with the theatre and play an integral part as a patron of the arts.

Chicago kicks off the season September 22-27, 2009. The hit show earned six Tony awards and has wowed fans on Broadway, the West End and Toronto! It even spawned the popular movie starring Catherine Zeta Jones as Velma, and Renee Zellweiger as Roxie.

Fiddler on the Roof, Farewell Tour is making a return to Buffalo November 17-22, 2009. Chaim Topol!, who starred in the original motion picture will be reviving his role.

November 28 &28, 2009 they will be staging The Nutcracker. The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra will be accompanying the dancers.

Continuing the holiday spirit is Cirque Dreams Holidaze beginning December 15-20, 2009.

In the Heights starts January 26-31, 2010, and is the winner of four Tony's and a Grammy for Best Show Album.

Riverdance will play five farewell performances, March 5-7, 2010.

Once Riverdance closes, old favorite Grease hits the stage, March 23-28, 2010.

Closing out this stellar season, Jersey Boys The 2006 Tony award for Best Musical, will rock the stage on April 21-May 9, 2010.

Those who were at the event on Thursday were treated to performances from In the Heights and Jersey Boys.

Mark your calendars; on May 2nd, 2009, there will be an evening with Broadway legends Mandy Patinkin and Patti Lupone!
