An Evening of Shorts at Hallwalls

An Evening of Shorts at Hallwalls

Media artist Victoria Bradbury has held the spot in the cinema vestibule of Hallwalls Contemporary Art Center for the month of March, and will be presenting an evening of video shorts at 8PM this Thursday, March 26th.

Thursday evening's screening will include a slew of shorts - 10 to be exact - as well as "Ms. Bradbery," which is currently installed in the Hallwalls Cinema. "Ms. Bradbery" centers on the story of Victoria Bradbury's 10th great-grandmother who was convicted of witchcraft for allegedly turning herself into a blue boar. Through video, Ms. Bradbery imagines the woman's transformation as those who were present in the Salem Courtroom would have seen it in their mind's eye.

The longest short, "
Ocean of Oceans," has a 10-minute running time. This short focuses on a figure who is burdened by cumbersome limbs as it churns in ocean waves, eventually moving toward the horizon. The figure's ghostly counterpart uses its bulky limbs to its advantage, moving through the water with considerable ease.

Bradbury is currently based in
Alfred, NY. In addition to video, she also works in performance, sculpture and installation, and her works have been screened and exhibited in Denmark, Beijing, Barcelonan, New York and Baltimore. Bradbury has also designed sets for the Juilliard School of Dance.

Hallwalls Contemporary Art Center Cinema is located at
341 Delaware Avenue, corner of Delaware and Tupper. Tickets for the screening are $7 for general admission, $5 for students/seniors, and $4 for members.
