Energy Weave Piece is Complete

Energy Weave Piece is Complete

Larry Griffis's Energy Weave sculpture for the Rigidized Metals Corporation is finally complete. "I feel good about the concept to the final piece. It took just a little bit over a year to do. I didn't get time to really celebrate it, but after I got home, it'll be like 'wow that piece is really done now.'"

Since the building is on the waterfront, the piece has to withstand even more weathering than most other pieces. "There are three mechanisms for the back of each piece." The sculpture looks amazing - for more of Larry Griffis's works of art, be sure to check out his upcoming show at Art Space.  The show opens 2/20.

I think this is really lovely. Buffalo needs as much "public" art as it can get--especially in the areas currently undergoing a revival (West Side, Water front, etc.). The fact that a private business and a local, well-established, successful artist made it happen makes it all the sweeter.

SORRY! I still think it should be called "scrap metal on a pipe".

I would like to see pieces like this along route 5 and the water were they can be visually enjoyed on there own, this looks great, but lost next to the building.
