If you were in the Theatre District Thursday afternoon, you might have caught a glimpse of a bicyclist pulling a life-size Buffalo on a wagon down Main Street. While it was certainly an off-beat site, the purpose of this gentleman and his colorful riding partner was far from whimsical.
It turns out that for the last week, ED the Earth Day Buffalo has been residing inside the Market Arcade building on Main Street. ED is traveling around the city promoting Earth Day initiatives, including events surrounding Wednesday, April 22nd Earth Day activities. The goal is to celebrate Earth Day by reducing the negative environmental impact of our commuter transportation activities by walking, taking public transportation, biking, and ridesharing in carpools.
Instead of transporting ED around the city in a gas-powered vehicle, the five-foot tall Buffalo is towed from location to location by a representative of Buffalo Blue Bicycle. On Thursday, ED departed downtown and made his way to the Buffalo Museum of Science to make a presence at the "Buffalo Business Gets Green" networking event.
One of ED's special corporate friends is Ecology & Environment, Inc., who has a neat website dedicated to Buffalo Earth Day 2009 events at www.buffaloearthday.com. ED also has friends at the Buffalo Niagara Convention & Visitors Bureau, Buffalo Blue Bicycle and the NFTA.

Awesome! What a great story. Thanks Doug.
