Ryan Miller's "Catwalk for Charity" returns with 1920's flair
Ryan Miller’s “Catwalk for Charity” returns with 1920’s flair Doug Sitler January 21, 2009 9:59 AM Comments: 0

The Roaring 20's will make their snazzy return to the Town Ballroom on Sunday, February 8th, when Buffalo Sabres goaltender Ryan Miller hosts his third-annual "Catwalk for Charity III" event at the former speakeasy. The event starts at 6:00 PM. Get your tickets at www.thesteadfastfoundation.com. They're going fast. There are also a few sponsorship packages still available.

If you've attended the previous incarnations of Catwalk at either Babeville in 2007 or the Statler in 2008, you know that this is a party not to be missed. Please note, this is strictly a 21 and over event and will be enforced at the door.

"When you hear about the notorious history of the Town Ballroom, it was only natural that we would be going with a Roaring 20's, prohibition, speakeasy theme this year," said Miller. "It's fascinating to hear that Al Capone is rumored to have hung out there, or that people like Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Miles Davis and other famous performers played the Ballroom's stage, and now the Buffalo Sabres! It's going to be a creative location for this year's fundraiser."

Attendees are encouraged to get into the "swing" of things by wearing flapper dresses, pinstriped suits and fedoras, although all other dress and jeans are always welcomed!  Prizes will be awarded for the best 1920's outfits. However, if you don something fun or funky, you'll fit right in.  If you want to look stylish for a night on the town, check out Miller's www.shoptherefinery.com for some hot current fashions.

Miller has once again teamed up with Buffalo events authority Therese Forton-Barnes, and her team, to create a newly themed event at a new venue. As with the previous "Catwalk" events, there will be an incredible live and silent auction, which is certainly a spectator sport all in itself (see www.thesteadfastfoundation.com for a list of auction items). A wide-array of performers will be taking the stage, including The Paul Safy Quintet,  Big Band Sounds by The Pyramid Dance Band with Jack Civiletto, and Justin Kubiak's Bareback Jack. As with any Miller event, expect a lot of the unexpected, with many celebrities and Buffalo's hobnobbers enjoying a fantastic evening for a tremendous cause.

Once again, top notch Buffalo restaurants are supporting Miller's fundraising efforts. Participating restaurants are Black & Blue, Trattoria Aroma, Nektar, Illio DiPaolo's, Tempo, Torches, Dessert Deli, Encore, Snooty Fox, La Tee Da and The Wine Thief.

One other special note - the event will use the Town Ballroom's Washington Street entrance, as the Main Street Entrance will be closed. Valet parking will be available.

The Steadfast Foundation mission is dedicated to assisting those afflicted and affected by the consequences of cancer, and especially childhood forms of the disease. The foundation's goals are to use our resources to provide patients and their families support to help improve their circumstances and attitude and give them the best environment and a better ability to battle the disease.
